Movie Section 2011-2012

The Movie Section meets the second Thursday of the month
at 1 p.m. at the Hyde Park Art Center.
Members present films and a discussion follows the showing.

Everyone is invited.
(A $2 donation is asked for the use of the HPAC space & equipment.)

October 13 -- My Dog Tulip (2009),
the charming animated film based on the 1956 memoir by J. R. Ackerley.

November 11-- The Reader (2008),
based on the book by Bernhard Schlenk
starring Kate Winslet, who won an Oscar in the role

December 8--The Ref (1994)
a comedy about a disfunctional family Christmas, starring Judy Davis and Kevin Spacey

January 12--The Kids Are All Right (2010)
Two children conceived by artificial insemination bring their birth father into their family life.
Starring Annette Bening, Julianne Moore, Mark Ruffalo

February 9--The Blind Side (2009)
Sandra Bullock won best actress for her role as a housewife/mother who takes in a homeless,
traumatized teen who goes on to become a star football player. Based on Michael Lewis's best seller.

March 8- Widows' Peak (1994)
An Irish comedy, starring Natasha Richardson, Mia Farrow, Joan Plowright.
